What is Confiker worm ?
Confiker, also known as Downup, Downadup and Kido, is a computer worm targeting the Microsoft Windows operating system that was first detected in October 2008.
The funny thing is that the virus is actually not active as the developers of this malicious worm have not activated it. The way they are doing this is they are having the worm multiply around the net and getting on computers but not actually doing any damage as of yet and is awaiting instructions from the developers.
There have been several rumors and accusations that April 1st will be the day that Confiker will receive its instructions to activate and do massive harm. Confiker is self-replicating and infects a vulnerability in machines that use Microsoft Windows as an operating system.
The only problem for Those who work in the firewall and internet security industry is that it is hard for them to nail down how to stop it, as Confiker uses an algorithm that changes every day and is based on timestamps from public websites.
To check if u r victim of it. Simply goto run-->cmd---> in cmd write dis command:
ping 127.0.0.1
If you receive reply from the above IP then your are victim of confiker worm which may reduce your speed or disconnect or result into no browsing...
Confiker is a worm reported to be generated on the 1 st of April and generates internet traffic without the knowledge of the users and hence they experience issues like slow browsing. It also restricts access to websites that can help in the removal of the software.
The only solution is to refresh your windows and download and install this file

Windows Vista: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=18FDFF67-C723-42BD-AC5C-CAC7D8713B21&displaylang=en
U must give it a try even your antivirus can`t detect it...
